Our Biodiversity Assessment

Our Approach

Geographic Information Analysis
(GIS)
Field Work
Environmental
DNA Analysis

We assess biodiversity by combining GIS (Geographic Information System), field surveys, and DNA analysis.

Our team consists of ecologists, genomics specialists, information scientists, and others working together.

Features of Our Biodiversity Assessment

  • Feature 1: We can scientifically evaluate nature-positive initiatives and biodiversity.

  • Feature 2: Our higher resolution surveys than typical large-scale studies enable high-precision assessments even for small sites like corporate facilities.

  • Feature 3: We not only assess but also propose improvement methods.

Specific methods for assessing biodiversity

●GIS Analysis

We evaluate which organisms can inhabit the target site. This evaluation allows us to narrow down the survey points for the field investigation.

The potential habitats for aquatic organisms and rare plants are analyzed,

based on topographic data, vegetation maps, and aerial photographs.

We analyze ecological networks (connections between green spaces) for urban study areas.

By extracting green spaces from satellite data and linking green spaces within distances accessible to wildlife, we form a network. You can learn about the importance of green spaces within the target area.

●Field Survey

Biodiversity assessment of target site: Analyzing how much wildlife can be attracted to green spaces.

Insect: Chinese Yellow Swallowtail

Plant: Japanese Prickly-ash

Plant: Japanese silver grass

Insect: Sicelis Wood Nymph

Different plant species attract different types of wildlife.

Estimate and Analyze visiting species based on site plantings.

●Soil Microbial Analysis

Evaluate soil richness through soil microbial analysis

Assess soil microbial diversity at target sites

Assessment of NCP or Ecosystem Services

NCP, also known as “Ecosystem Services,” is an index for evaluating the multifaceted value of biodiversity.

We can quantitatively assess this NCP. We can also relate NCP to business risks and opportunities under TNFD disclosure.

Proposals for improving biodiversity

We propose planting schemes that maximize the site's potential to transform it into greener spaces with higher biodiversity.

This creates rich green spaces with excellent material cycling and high carbon storage capacity.

We propose soil improvement methods to create richer green spaces.

Example: Forest floor transplantation for vegetation restoration

This involves transplanting “soil blocks” or “protected tree blocks” to the center of bare ground to form an “island.”

Support for TNFD disclosure

We are here to help!
Level 1
Disclosures that merely follow TNFD guidelines

Disclosures using generic tools like ENCORE or IBAT tend to yield similar results across companies.

This type of disclosure:

“Fails to fully reflect the company's strengths in the assessment”

“Does not translate assessment results into concrete actions”

“Does not sufficiently enhance corporate value”

Level 2
Advanced Disclosure
Level 3
Implementation of Nature Positive Initiatives

Showcases the company's unique environmental initiatives

Disclosure content substantiates the value creation story.
